I've done time lapses, mostly of sunrises, for years now.  First I used an S60; it died.  Then I used a Nikon Coolpix 8400; this morning it died.  I want to get a new camera ASAP, and cheaply, but of decent quality.

The S60 had unacceptable optics: bad vignetting and chromatic aberration.

At a cursor search, it looks like the SX500 IS is a good value, but I don't see it on the list of CHDK supported cameras.

So: (1) Is support for the SX500 IS in the works? and (2) Is there a more suitable, supported camera?
