Can you go to the Miscellaneous Stuff menu,  and then the Debug Parameters menu and press Func Set on the Save ROM crash log menu item?

That will store file called ROMLOG.LOG in the root directory of your SD care.  Please post that file here as an attachment?

Got the dump - good job!  Incidentally, is the date & time set correctly on your camera ?

Regardless,  your S90 has a very stable CHDK port - it should work.

You do realize that once the script starts running,  the display will appear blank for 25 seconds and the camera unresponsive while it takes long exposures?

Attached is a version of the same script that will print much more information on your LCD display during startup.

Try it and carefully record what you see?

Date time stamp always resets for some reason
Pain in the [admin: avoid swearing please]
Ok I tried it
set my cam for M
native OFF  < shuts down >  Native On And read as follows
and it seems to be working ...
30 second exposure
and just a sec to take next one and the display go's blanks while exposing ..
Fast menu pops up. < interupt time is really fast ...lol 
took a few shots and they are over exposed but I wasnt shooting anything just testing the scripts..

now, can I eke out one more little tid bit..plz
I have relatively low light pollution <setting
Great background of several ridge's< field of depth
And I know I'll be shooting in M mode using this and CHDK
What are < get this a bunch > the basic setting for M ?
Exposure I have read 30 seconds any more you start getting star streaks without tracker
And Ive read a f stop of 2.8  and and ap of 400 to 1600
Damn did I just remember all that...lol
  I'll be mainly using it for night anyway would be GREAT !

? I dont understand ...I though I had to Set those ....or do I just adjust for exposure time according to the light present ?  darker more ex lighter less ?

Confused....thought I had it licked ...or you did ..

That's the whole point of using a script - it does it all for you.  Leave your camera in P mode and let it run.  The only thing you might want to adjust is the exposure time - you can do that from the CHDK Script menu.  Anything between 15 and 25 seconds is probably fine.  If you don't even want to try that - use the default and don't touch anything.

Don't wait for the meteors by the way.  Go out and shoot the sky tonight.  See how its working.  When you are getting good clear night shots and processing the "dark frames" in the PC yourself well,  then you are ready to really hunt for meteors !!

you bet I will, however it's cloudy but  with a 30 second exposure I should pick up the contrasting cloud cover and will be a good start.
I used picasa for the first TL  I posted


That  sundog shot was hand held and I shot it like  a rifle> on the out breath
to get a better shot when no time to set up tripod ..< Run grab Camera ! no cdhk dont ask the setting i couldnt tell ya .... Looked good on preshot shooot shoot shoot thing ..

I keep hearing about this "Dark Frames "  8) new to me :o and confusing and I'm sure I'll need them for the end results .. :xmas

Dark frames? I can (and will) write several pages that explain that. Let's leave it at that and I will come back to it later?
