Just a quick note to say that STICK (Version 1.08) will now install an 'unsupported build'. In essence you have to download the zip file containing the test build and rename it to "test123c.zip, where '123c' is the firmware version of your camera. If such a zip is in the stick folder then it will be unzipped and installed.

See here for more details - http://www.zenoshrdlu.com/stick/stickx.html
Thank you, thank you, thank you ...

i have been trying to reproduce the crash and i finally got it after a long press power up button and then playback button
Thanks, you're confirming my previous guess: the camera fails to save a crash log for this kind of crash - your log shows a lens error from November.

Which build were you using when you reproduced the issue?

@zeno: Thanks.

I see. You may want to try the latest build (things would be much easier if we had usable romlogs).

That's good.

If you (or the other testers) have some time to test, there still are untested parts of CHDK.

If you have a PC running Windows (or Linux), you could test these:
- Liveview
- CHDK palette - including making sure the overlay (Canon graphic elements, text, menu) appears correctly in remote Liveview
- JPEG remote capture (rs -jpg)

See the following pages for information:
http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/PTP_Extension
https://www.assembla.com/wiki/show/chdkptp

If you can't do the computer related tests, you could still help by taking pictures of the camera LCD when the palette viewer is active 1) in play mode, 2) in rec mode.
The palette viewer can be found like this in the menu: "CHDK settings" -> "Color settings" -> "Draw palette"
Additionally, it could also help if you navigate to the 0x000075a4 address using the "Memory browser" (Miscellaneous stuff -> Debug parameters -> Memory browser) and writing down its DWORD value in play and in rec mode. Use the zoom lever and the directional buttons to enter the address.

The effectiveness of movie quality override also has not been verified yet.

edit:
attached the current diff against nafraf's svn r629
edit2:
a2500_active_palette_fix.diff (0.94 kB - downloaded 1 times.)
removed, included in the current patch below

If you could test with chdkptp, that would be even better (live view and the rs command).

Found the correct function, should now work with the new build. Rebooting is only recommended with retracted lens!

To all testers: keep trying various features (for example does an 80 second exposure override now work?), and report things that don't work.

old test build no longer necessary

I'm not sure if it has been linked in this thread before but http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Testing has some suggestions. Also please feel free to add things that are missing, especially bugs that have been missed in other ports.

I would add SD override to that, but I don't have a clear test procedure :-[
Don't forget what the H stands for.
