I have been using the latest version for a while now and have yet to crash, nothing to report except directories created for each DNG raw file instead of being saved within the same directory as JPG

My friend bought the same camera and consistently "loses" chdk when booting (no chdk appearing), when running the same card as mine ! I have tried his camera myself, same stuff.

It appears therefore that there may be different versions of the same A2550...

Check the firmware version using ACID
If it is different from 100a, make a dump, upload it to a sharing file server and post the link to [DOWNLOAD LINKS] Firmware dumps available.

Hi,
I want to purchase this model and install CHDK for one purpose, To write a script that starts video recording at a specified time then stops it after a specified duration. Is this possible with the current state of the port?

Update: It seems that this model has 10 mins video limit, so I will look for another model.

Hello,
I'm a long time canon powershot user. one of the reasons: CHDK
If testers are needed with the A2500, I'd like to help
my device:
ACID reported firmware 100a
windows properties report firmware 1-14.0.1.0
serial: F205930F73D04422A6D8C6D7203BC38C

best regards

Thanks to nafraf for quick reply !

First impressions:
chdk seems to work, most of  the (many) features work

The issues I ran into, see below. I haven't yet got the time to thoroughly search the forum for solutions, as they are likely to be mentioned already.

1) usb link with pc (win7/64)
only the regular canon files are visible, none of the chdk or raw images can be seen.
only when the sdcard is fed directly in the pc, full list is visible

2) intervalometer script (basic & KAP/UAV version)
the script run once (one picture taken), nothing else happens
logging does not seem to work

As said, most likely, the answers are in the forum waiting to be found. I will do that soon.

Thank you to all  CHDK contributors: great work.
glenn

I'd love to be part of the test team.  My son is getting this camera for Christmas to use in making stop-motion Lego movies.  I'd be glad to do general tests and to specifically test the remote zoom and shutter functions as part of that...

Since nafraf hasn't logged in for 5 days, I'm uploading this test build for firmware 1.00a. It's time limited (14 days from now), and diskboot only - you need a bootable card to try it.
http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Prepare_your_SD_card
http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/EOScard (for Windows)
http://www.zenoshrdlu.com/macboot/macboot.html (for Mac)

Disclaimer: this isn't my port, I haven't changed anything in the source - it's exactly what's available from nafraf's svn repo. And, of course, I don't have this camera.

The port likely has some bugs, see previous reports here. DO NOT try it on a different firmware revision camera.
Bug/success reports are welcome.

edit:
a2500-100a-1.3.0-3274-full_timelimited_test.7z (477.88 kB - downloaded 12 times.)
Unusable build, removed.

Thanks!  The camera is now officially wrapped up, but I'll test and report back shortly after the unwrapping happens.

I cant really get on the chdk menu, even when it boots up (with chdk) it says that my memory card has no space left, probably because I had to partition the sdhd card of 8gb in 2 partitions. if I click the little green button to view photos it simply crashes, can someone help me out please?

The A2500 does not need - or support - dual partitions as it was released after 2010.

The only up-to-date installation instructions for CHDK are always here :  http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Prepare_your_SD_card

The STICK utility at the top of that page is highly recommended.
