SD870 - RAW & Lightroom

Hello all,

First of all, I'm fairly new to using CHDK but I have been following it's development for some time.

I recently upgraded my Canon SD630 to an SD870. CHDK is working fine.

I have a few questions regarding RAW:

1. I use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom for photography along with Adobe CS3 Master Collection. I there currently a way for Lightroom (and Bridge, Photoshop CS3) to recognize the RAW format produced by CHDK? I set the extension to CR2 and it didn't change anything.

2. If the answer to #1 is "yes", then is it possible to turn off JPG recording and ONLY shoot RAW?

Thanks!

1. Yes.
2. No. (yet)

Plus you don't really want jpeg only shooting.

.Thanks.. So how would I get Lightroom/Bridge to recognize RAW? They come up as invalid files.

And I Do NOT want JPEG only shooting.. I was asking if I can turn JPEG off and only shoot RAW.

Thanks

Well, I did search first.

I searched for SD870 AND Lightroom and got no results. If I search for just SD870, I get a gazillion hits that don't concern me. If I search for just Lightroom, I get no results but my own post.

CHDK is not about a specific camera model. Almost everything about it works with everything, exceptions present.

1. DNG for PowerShot-2
2. JPG files are used by the above software to copy color curves and levels

You can then use ANY Adobe application and work on the DNG files.

I'm running into the same issue with an SD400.
Both photoshop cs3/bridge and iphoto on an intel macbook pro fail to recognize the CRW raw files.

have downloaded and successfully used DNG4PS-2 Mac Intel build but this is just another level of conversion that I was trying to avoid.
I'd love to know if there were other posts mentioning this issue because I have yet to find them in my searches.

have downloaded and successfully used DNG4PS-2

That is a perfectly fine way to this.

You can bump the request topic for in-camera DNG processing :)

Hi,

To be fair to muzicman82, DNG4PS2 (even the current beta) doesn't include the SD870 (IXUS 860 IS) in its list of supported cameras.  So at the moment RAW processing for this model seems a bit more convoluted than it would be for other models.  I did try to convert its RAWs using DNG4PS2 with the IXUS 950 color matrix's, and while results looked OK I wouldn't be 100% confident using that setting for regular processing photos.

I've posted some calibration photos to the color matrix thread so hopefully this model will be added soon, but for the moment IXUS 860 IS/SD870 owners do have to use a more convoluted/manual RAW processing workflow.

Thanks,
Matt
