some new CMOS model is offering a hi speed mode, where it can go up to 10fps at 2000 X 1500.
would be great if this can also be in RAW mode, even if the hi speed might not be as hi because of the buffer to SD card bottleneck. It will still be a very cool feature.
Unfortunately, writing DNG raw files with CHDK takes about 4 to 6 seconds. I don't think there's any way to speed that up significantly. I have 2 cameras that allow native Canon raw file saving, but that still slows up regular continuous mode to about 0.5 shots per second instead of 2 shots per second for jpg only.
I checked the "HQ Burst" mode on my SX50, and you can't save native raw files in that mode. The resolutions are 1280x720, 1920x1080, and 640x480, the same as the video resolutions. So it looks like they're just saving video frames as jpg. You could probably get close to the same quality by splitting a video file into jpgs with software later, although I haven't tried it. The advantage would be that you'd have 30 fps instead of 10, and unlimited frames, instead of 10 frames, plus the video recorder adjusts exposure, at least on my cameras.
But this is little off topic. It sounds like the conclusion is that supporting raw in low light mode isn't worth the effort.
