I am using the older IDC scripts that are started by CHDK.idc to disassemble G15 firmware.

After findCode2() completes the "Please wait .." message is displayed and the memory-address counter rapidly changes until 0xFF8A0000 is reached.

It then slows to a crawl and would take hours or longer to complete.
"searching for tasks ..." is never displayed.

This also happens with the SX240hs, another 16MB file.


Any ideas ?

That is what I thought.

Well, after about 40 minutes on this old PC it suddenly picks-up speed again and eventually finishes the disassembly.

Hmmm ...........

Try to use code_gen, chdk-pt or GPL tools for disassembly.  :-[

Yes, I will consider that.

I am just wondering what causes findCode2() to slowdown at 0xFF8A0000 (which is the start of text string 'HIVSHD_PARAM_0').
