Could you try your SX110IS in CHDK PTP and check whether you can set manual focus there? If so, maybe you could use CHDK PTP for focus and AstroKam for capture?

Now understand CHDK PTP is a program for PC. Now i tested it with my sx110is. Manual focus mode works, the focus distance adjustable. On screen display works too. I see the focus position on camera and my PC. Liveview always works, very stable, never crach. I can switch record or play mode without problem with liveview.

With CHDK PTP left, right, wheel l, wheel r buttons used to set manual focus and distance.

Great idea add this features to astrokam.  :)

The astronomer camp ended, it was bad weather (partly cloudy). But I made a short test with my test lua script. The dither required to this camera 15 pixel with 50/180 guide scope. Small amount dither not enought, small CCD very noise. ISO 400 and 4 minute exposure, 10x zoom good for start. Only 15 image shoot, but after processing, the non movable greatly reduced.

The target was at the zenith, very uncomfortable or impossible position to acces original Canon camera display and buttons. Liveview and remote functions, very important.

Can you explain the steps you use to get manual focus? AstroKam has the same Left, Right and wheel keys as CHDKPTP Remote (except the wheel keys are called Zoom).

CHDK PTP: left, right, set, wheel r, wheel l buttons use to control manual focus. CHDK PTP has zoom+ and zoom- buttons too, this is works, set the optical zoom.

Astrokam: left, right, set keys => enter to manual focus. Wheel r, wheel l buttons missing. Astrokam has a zoom+ and zoom- buttons, it works, control optical zoom, but not manual focus distance.

See the back panel, i have rotatable wheel ring around of func/set button:

Canon A810 not have wheel ring, it only has zoom keys around shutter button.

Your sample images with Astrokam and your telescope interesting, which method use? Digiscoping with eyepiece? Any other paramers, Eyepiece type, focal lenght, ISO, Zoom, exposure time, how many images processed ?

Your sample images with Astrokam without your telescope interesting, any other paramers, ISO, Zoom, exposure time,  how many images processed?

OK, I will add wheel left and right buttons to the toolbar which should allow manual focus.

The telescope shots were taken on a Nexstar 4SE using its optical port and the stock 25mm Plossl using a digiscope adapter. Exposure time was 15s at ISO 2500 and focal length 5mm. I used the Sort routine to weed the lights down to 102 shots and used the 24 darks and biases created automatically by AstroKam.

I don't have data for the camera only shots.

Attached is a test version of AstroKam which has wheel left and right buttons (WL and WR). Does this give you manual focus?

Can you try the attached version - the WL and WR buttons might now work (touch wood).

Re the crashes, do they only occur when you are switching between record and playback mode? If so, maybe you could try switching off live view before switching?

Now WL and WR buttons works. I can set manual focus mode, and focus distance without any problem. Thanks.

Liveview not stable, not  only rec/play mode switch kill the liveview. Only rec mode and randomly pressing some buttons on astrokam, problem exist whihin a minute. But if no press any buttons, liveview stable.

Good stuff. It will be a while before I can address the crash issue so I suggest you try using CHDKPTP Remote for focusing and AstroKam for capture (with LiveView off). Try it out indoors first using one of the ASCOM telescope simulators to make sure it runs OK without crashing.

Next up I will add autoguiding so you could get ready for that by installing PHD2.

Now sort test Astrokam in indoor. The program works, telescope is simulator, liveview off, download off, preview off. No crasch, but some time lag occured (many secods) don't know why. The programs not responting many seconds, but no crash, works later. Stop button same, works but time lag. I try sequence and plan too. But more complex test required in the dark indoor. Currently daylight.

Now i found your test pictures made with AZ mode mount. This mount support EQ mode? Your country, city name interesting. I not see any field rotation on your picture, this is ok, exposure time sort. My mount and other mount support EQ mode. I can record 4 minutes pictures with my mount. EQ mode important on long exposure, or field derotator need.
