Undoubtedly a terrible place for a post like this :-[ but - can Lua do everything that uBasic can do ?

Question based on http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Lua:

From which I quote:

"New users should strongly consider using Lua over uBasic if writing new scripts for themselves. Lua is much more powerful and will yield lower frustration in the long run."

In general it can everything that uBASIC and a lot more. You have for example file read/write functions, you can load native Cannon functions, you have better code look (very important in complex script), you can use libraries... If you just want to start coding I would suggest using Lua.

I think you are taking that quote backwards.  Lua is a real programming language.  The B in BASIC stands for "Beginner's".   There are many things you can do easily with Lua that you can't even attempt in uBASIC but there is nothing uBASIC can do that can't be done with Lua.

Very nice project nafraf. Do you have any photos of the setup you can share with us?

I see there is some difference in the distance between camera's, causing the transitions to be a little rough. Or is this due to something else?

Thanks. This week we took more photos, this time with 72 cameras, 360 degree.  That material will be available on next week. Setup will be visible on those images.

It is caused by camera misalignment, we are working to improve that.

Nafraf,

Very impressive system. I've been working on the same thing, mainly to do 3D reconstructions. I recently ran into the problem of switching between the USB remote mode and reconnecting with CHDKptp, which is how I found this post.

Would you mind elaborating on how you are doing the switching with your electronics?

I've worked on 3D systems with multiple cameras now for around 3 years. Any chance I could get a set of photos from you to play around with doing reconstructions? I have the same cameras as you and would love to be able to see some results without having to build my own system first. I visited your website and if you want to do more 3D scanning I'd be happy to help.

Thanks
