SX210 IS no intervalometer...

I purchased a Canon SX210 IS from ebay for the specific purpose of aerial balloon mapping - decided to go with Canon due to the CHDK intervalometer capability. There is only one CHDK version for this model and my camera seems to meet all the requirements

Canon PowerShot SX210 IS P-ID: 31F6 NT D
had to use the "vers.req" file method.
The platform ID indicates DRYOS 2.3, release #0043, 2010,
and I'm using a 4gb SDHC class 6 card setup to boot.

I've tried both sx210is-100c-1.2.0-3244-full_ALPHA.zip
and sx210is-100c-1.3.0-3249-full_ALPHA.zip builds

There are plenty of example videos that indicate at this camera works with intervalometer scripts but I am unable to get any to work. The test scripts all seem to work except for ones that control the shutter. I've used a number of examples including the default script in the CHDK build but nothing seems to work. In addition the motion detection script works but only one time. The intervalometer scripts are kinda the same way, they do work once and it then shows it sequencing on the overlay but no shutter noise or pictures. I've tried all the easy stuff - any ideas????

To be able to help you, we needs specifics. What script are you trying to run? What Canon firmware and CHDK settings are you using? What exactly happens when you try to run the script.

I have no idea what "sequencing on the overlay" means.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Some of the simpler CHDK scripts that actually take pictures require you to have the camera in shooting mode (rather than playback) when you run them.  While its easy to have a script automatically switch the camera to  shooting mode when the script start,  most of the simple ones do not do that.

Could that be your problem?

Although I've tried many - the default one with the build is "interval.bas" but I've also tried "ult_intrvl.bas".
Firmware Ver GM1.00C (1.0.0.0) Adj Ver.008.005 as indicated by camera and CHDK web site.
Settings are default on CHDK and camera.

I push REC to go into ALT mode - the INTERVALOMETER script shows loaded
I then push the shutter button to start the script
The camera then opens and the OSD indicates that the script has started
A picture is taken
The picture taken shows in the review window then disappears after 2 sec
When the window comes back the CHDK OSD is no longer showing and no more pictures are taken

However if I push the shutter button again it does show the OSD and that the script has been interrupted. Also if I switch back to PLAY mode without stopping the script, it shows the OSD briefly and another picture is taken but it does not sequence with the script.

The camera boots up into shooting mode and I push the Number 6 Movie/Print button to access CHDK.

interval.bas is as simple as it gets - if it doesn't work, nothing will.

Try turning off the "shot review mode" (in the Canon menu) and running the script that way?  (you should not need to do that - I'm just trying to narrow down the problem).

If I use the attached script and turn off the preview it still does not work however when I press the PLAYBACK button it shows the script sequencing through the shots 5 times. I had set it to five shots at 3 sec increments.

Well, CHDK for the sx210is has been released for well over a year now.  Seems unlikely the port is so broken that something as simple as interval.bas will not run.

Just a wild guess here - are you trying to do this while the camera is connected to your PC via a USB cable?

No - not using it connected to a PC:-( Its a used camera so it may just be the camera, does seem a little odd like you said.

The only other issue - I saw an error on the system review screen (see pic).

I also read some posts about the save format of the scripts but I'm using windows notepad and actually tried everyone...

Hmmm .. the famous E18 lens error.   Usually bad news.  Can you take pictures "normally" with the camera - several in a row for example?

That's not the issue here. The script would fail to load and run at all if you had that wrong.

Not at all... It's marked as alpha for a reason. See the last pages of the porting thread.

That's unrelated to CHDK.

I don't have an idea right now why shoot() gets stuck.

It can happen when the lens gets partially blocked while it tries to extend, but it's not necessarily "lethal".
