Hey Dear Guys and Developers . I Have a question . And I Know it is not a good question !  ;)

When Will A1400 be hacked ? Cause I Want to buy this camera and Use CHDK on it .
I Mean when do you think you will get Stable Version for this camera ? a month or more ?

Thanks ♥

When Will A1400 be hacked ?

CHDK for the A1400 is available as a custom build if  you are willing to help with testing.

But as noted here :

link> CHDK FAQ : My camera isn't ported yet

there is no schedule for CHDK development.

The A1400 code has been added to the svn repository (but not the stable autobuild) so I think its safe to assume, from reading this thread, that you could buy your camera today and use a testing build until the offiicial release happens.

It's available in the 1.3 autobuild.

Due to the growing differences between CHDK 1.2 and 1.3, new ports do not necessarily will get added to the 1.2 branch.

Thanks For Reply .

But another question . Is There Any Probability that A1400 won't be hacked forever ? orIs it 100% that It would be hacked some day ?

I don't have this camera yet . I wanted to buy it 2-3 days ago until I knew its CHDK is unstable and isn't finished yet.I wish I could help you . If I know that A1400 would be hacked soon , I will buy it maybe in next a few days ( maybe in 2-3 days )

Sorry If My Writing is not good enough !  :'(

As srsa said, CHDK already exists for this camera.

The "unstable" build is probably usable. If it's not, people need to use it and report whatever problems exist.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

FWIW, I would prefer to see new ports backported once they are reasonably stable, until it becomes becomes too difficult or the unstable branch reaches stabilization phase. I don't think there should be big conflicts at the moment, although I admit I haven't tried it recently.

An exception might be cameras that have minimal memory and have problems with EXMEM, since ARAM is not in 1.2.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Port is usable. There are some known bugs (reported in notes.txt):
- Mute mic on zoom during video recording does not work.
- Set quality video does not work

Additionally, there is a bug related to set_zoom() reported, but I have not tested that in detail.

I would mostly take photos . I would use video record mode less .

So Is A1400 CHDK OK for Photos ? and its bugs are only for video mode ?

And Also I'm Stuck between buying Canon A1200 and Canon A1400 . My reason for choosing A1200 is that I'm sure about A1200 "Stable" CHDK .

Which one do you think is a better quality Camera in Taking Photos ? ( less noise and better quality )

The A1200 has been ported for longer than the A1400.   However, there is no formal test that determines when a camera is "stable" or what that really means. You need to read the porting threads for both cameras and decide for yourself. Based on what I see there,  for most things that you can do with CHDK,  you are unlikely to notice any difference between the two cameras.  Buy the camera you like best.

The are both inexpensive "low end" Canon P&S cameras.  The A1400 has a few improvements including a slightly better zoom.

I doubt that you will find a lot of difference between them from an image quality perspective.

I tested another script and my camera crashes occasionally.
I'm not sure that this but is related to the A1400 only.
Can you lease look at the ROMLOG?
