Setting long exposure over ride (HH,MM,SS)

I would like to be able to take long exposure photos. On the enhanced photo operations menu I have set over ride TV to Long Exposure; then toggled Long Exp value to On (function set button) but then can only set the value in the Seconds column. How do I move the cursor to tab to the HH or MM column to set those values?

Now the dumb question; Once I set long exposure override how do I use it when taking a photo? When I go to adjust the shutter speed in manual I am still limited to the camera's maximum shutter speed of 15 secs.

Use the zoom keys. If the cameras doesn't have zoom keys, the display key should cycle between them. If it doesn't have either... tell us what camera it is.

If the override is enabled (the little check box to the left is checked) then it will be used, regardless of what appears in the UI.

Hmm.. I have TV override set to 5:00 and the OSD shows TV=5:00 ; I am taking the picture in manual with the shutter set to 15S. The camera takes a 15S exposure; not 5 min. CHDK is running but not in ALT mode.

What am I doing wrong?

Did you set the first line of the Enhanced Photo Operations menu that says Disable Overrides to No ?

Update : I expect you did or the OSD would show NO OVERRIDES With my G10 in Manual mode, the CHDK override setting is used rather than the M mode setting. Still, you could try shooting in P mode and see how long the exposure is ?

Yes Overides Disabled; Tried it in P mode; Exposure was more than 15S this time (but not 5Min either). Will play around more with it.

This isn't clear. If you want the override to work, this option should be set to "NO". If you set the option to "YES", "NO OVERRIDES" should be displayed in red on the CHDK OSD, though this can be turned off.

In the normal firmware, long exposures may take 2x the normal time because the camera does a "dark frame" for noise reduction. This usually shows a "busy" message. In any case, the total time taken would be about 30 seconds. However, P mode wouldn't normally get anywhere close to 15 sec unless you are shooting somewhere very very dark.

It might also be possible that exposures longer than 60 seconds are not correctly implemented on your camera.

What camera and CHDK version are you using?
