Code: [Select]
This one was in Av mode with aperture at 8.
Together with ND?
No ND as I did not yet get the ND to work (see my previous test with continuous mode and ND 'in').
So what should I try on the sx260hs to see if ND works or not?

Soon I'll have an S110 too to see it that one behaves differently.

Try 2 runs with rawopint (one with and one without ND) each 8 shots with the same scene (maybe inside with tungsten light) in continuous mode without AF in Av Mode and see in the log file, if there is any difference.
M100 100a, M3 101a, G9x II (1.00c), 2*G1x (101a,100e), S110 (103a), SX50 (100c), SX230 (101a), S45,

The ND column says 0 for both sets of eight photos yet CHDK says `ND Filter: in` in red over the display after taking the second set of photos.
Soon I can repeat this for S110.

I’m not sure if this column is correct set. On my S110 it is the same, still when ND is in.
Interesting is, if there is any difference between both runs in exposure time?  Do you have the log file?

The logfile is attached.
Maybe we can deduce the ND presence from the exposure times but then we need a very constant situation w.r.t. light.
So the ND indication in the logfile might (!) be buggy.

Yes, as I said, inside with tungsten light.
The second run is with ND in? There is a jump in tv from 2EV steps…

I think the column is correct for cams without aperture…

Yes, that column is only meaningful if the script is actively controlling the ND. As I've said, the script does not currently support ND on cams with an adjustable aperture. If you set it outside the script, you should see an effect on the exposure, and also an effect on the Bv if ND value isn't counted as part of the aperture.

On cams without an adjustable aperture, the script can detect the initial ND state (if it was set by the canon firmware) by looking at min Av and current Av, because one of the Av propcase reflects ND value. If the ND filter is set it can also detect the value. The CHDK ND overrides functions do update the propcase.

For cameras with both, AFAIK the ND setting does not affect the Av propcases, but I don't have a camera to test. There are some ND related propcases, but without cameras to test I'm not sure their exact behavior. The cameras with a "hidden" ND are likely to differ from those with manual control in the canon firmware.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

I made a couple of moon runs.

It was a little bit frustrating. First run with G1x. Much overexposure. I don’t know why. I set overexposure to 0.02% (or only 0.2%?)

OK, script starts with ISO800. I know the problems with G1x, but then ISO goes to 100. But I got always sv 411 != cam 507. We never tried the other direction with isoinc (from higher to lower).

Here are the runs with SX230 on full zoom.

First run looks OK.

On second run exposure decries very late. May be max_ev_change was to low?

The other runs have not focused…..

over_thresh_frac=200 => 200/1,000,000 => 0.02%
(the menu value is in parts per 100k, but the actual value is per million)

I would say any use of ISO over 320 is suspect on this camera, not just the transition from one range to another other. However, I don't think this is the main cause of your problems.

Looking at your log, over_weight was always 200, but meter weight also reaches 200, so it balances.

This is controlled by the following settings:
"Meter low thresh -Ev" meter_low_thresh = -168 = 1.75 ev below neutral
"Meter low limit -Ev"  meter_low_limit = -264 => 2.75 ev below neutral
"Meter low max weight" meter_low_limit_weight = 200, meaning weight increases from 100 at "Meter low thresh" up to 200 when "Meter low limit" is reached.

I'd suggest setting "Meter low max weight" to 100, so there is no increase in meter weight. You may additionally want to set "Overexp prio" to something greater than 0, to further reduce influence of meter when over exposure is in effect.

edit:
For the sx230 runs, I'm not clear which section of the log matches each run, but the meter weight setting suggestion still applies.
