Meter96 looks similar to my runs. It is really not much but the oscillation gives you the impression, it is more. Especially when you see it on larger screens with higher bitrate.  But deflicker filter can handle this very well.

I notice on my SX230, that I can’t switch the ND filter in the canon firmware, which is different to S110 and G1x.
On S110 and G1x I switched the ND always on, when I doing timelapse. 
When I turn on the ND filter in the SX230 in CHDK menu, then normal images are underexposed because presumably the Canon firmware did not notice this. I have not checked this together with rawopint, but maybe the first pre shoots are wrong.

I can't tell if this is the cause of the flicker in your case.
Aside from the configuration changes I mentioned, the camera was at ISO200 before starting the script.
I am unsure if this has any influence, as are the mode (P), etc.
I read through the thread etc but I might have missed a clear statement of what settings/modes in the camera do carry over into the script's operations.

I'll do a run with the correct script settings when the weather clears up a bit.

Yes, either extending that script or making additional ones for tv, av and nd is on my list of things to do.

On cameras with that only have an ND, the script can change it on the fly. It should be possible to do for cameras that have both, but there is some complication around detecting the initial state and value of the ND and I haven't got around to it yet.

Yes, a few cameras have a "hidden" ND filter, that doesn't show up in the Canon UI. Thanks Canon  ::)

The first may be wrong, but it should settle after a few shots. There's normally some difference between what Canon thinks the correct exposure and what the script targets anyway.

If everything is working, the script should completely control the the Tv and ISO regardless of the canon UI settings. Settings that it doesn't control (like Av) will be whatever the Canon firmware would have used for the first shot, and shouldn't change while the script is running.

In your case, it tried to set an ISO lower than the camera can use, so the ISO ended up with a different value. I'm not sure if this would have been what you set in the Canon UI or what the camera picked for auto ISO, but it doesn't really matter.

Hmm. Thanks for the tip!
If I see shutter times approach 1/1000 (and the weather will get a bit better over here later this week) I might do a 2nd run with the ND filter 'in' to see how that influences the performance.

I made just a run with SX230 with ND Filter in. The first picture was underexposed and the second OK. Meter96 shows a jump from around 195. settings from both pictures are the same. Can it be that the ND filter goes off after the first shoot and that the ND has only 2 stops?

Were you using continuous mode? Continuous or not may behave differently. (edit: looks like this was not continuous from the log)

A override in CHDK it should apply to every shot, but I think for both continuous and the hold half, click full method will probably only set it for the first shot. Normally the firmware doesn't change exposure settings in in this case, so it should work, but the "hidden" ND is weird so I wouldn't be surprised if it behaved differently.

You could test this manually by setting the ND in CHDK, and shooting a burst in continuous mode.

Normally I think the ND is closer to 3 stops, but it's possible this cam could be different. It would be easier to be sure with a controlled test similar to isoinc.

I made some testing with ND on SX230. I was wondering, that the ND is always off, when I switched the camera on. Is the parameter not saved?

When the ND is in, I got following result:

Single mode: ND is active on every shot.
Continuous Mode:  ND is active on every shot.
Continuous Mode with AF:  ND is active only on first shoot, all the other shots the ND is inactive.
But when I do a full press, without waiting for focusing, the ND is always inactive, independent from the mode.
