G1X full plunged with CHDK.....and one hopefully easy question

Received the G1X as Christmas present to self--installed CHDK (hats off to ALL the developers--this is better than ML on my EOS) on a fast 64gb card after forcing FAT32 on it. Enjoy a night time timelapse but went hiking the next day and is my habit I inserted the sd card and formatted it.....and lost CHDK.
When using Magic Lantern the format option keeps Magic Lantern yet formats the card.
Am I missing something with CHDK?
Are you all just 'erasing' pics?
Or do you occasionally format your cards and then re-install CHDK?

Format will erase all trace of CHDK - there is no equivalent to the ML option to format without losing it.

Just use the erase all option in the Canon menu.

Phil.

If you reformat the SD card using the Canon menu option then that's exactly what happens.  The card gets completely reformatted.  Everything gone - including CHDK.

CHDK does not have a format option.

I don't reformat my cards as a rule.  And I've reloaded CHDK hundreds of times while doing development (okay .. maybe more than hundreds of times ...)

It might be time to change your habit and live with erasing pics / directories as needed ?

Got it and thanks!
I will disabuse and rectify :)
I'm still marveling at CHDK and the diminutive G1X.
The other huge surprise is that seemingly every PowerShot is covered while ML is only developed for a small number of bodies and CHDK does more.
ML used to have a donate button....that button is greatly deserved here.
