SX170 porting

Has anybody started to port CHDK for Cannon Powershopt SX170 IS?

Good news / bad news.   The good news is that its a DIGIC4 camera so can be ported to the existing CHDK  platform.   Bad news is that nobody has started.

Hello ... I have decided to start port for sx170is, I know basic programming c + +, do not know how I'm late, but I am recently starting to IDAPRO tools would support development as this is the only one left in the SXxxxIS series I have this time, if alguie have something I can use or any remarks please let me know. wish me luck.

While comparing to alvm fw these strings are common (at identical file offsets):

  796f4 Firmware Version 1.01
  79710 Firmware Ver GM1.01A
...
 7d0000 Ver.009.004
 7d0170 Canon PowerShot SX170 IS

But differences start at decimal offset 7929920 and last till 8303088.
Hopefully they are nonimportant(?)

The stuff at the end of every firmware dump for every camera is different. It's where Canon in storing stuff  that changes in the NVRAM.

CHDK for sx170is 100A.

Is it possible to peek into source, so I can look how much work is needed to adapt to ver 101a? I have filled sub/101a/makefile.inc and platform_camera.h to my best understanding, but lots of porting work is ahead. 100a image crashes my camera, gives blank screen on boot.

nafraf usually waits until somebody has tested his ports before placing them into the trunk & autobuild.
