Ok I do understand now...
If I want to control a compact camera like my Canon S95 I need Chdkdptp + Gphoto2
gphoto2 will not help you with s95. chdkptp is an application that does something similar to gphoto2.

You should be able to download the raspi binary from https://www.assembla.com/spaces/chdkptp/documents and run it, but some configuration is required.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

thanks reyalp

I've got some problems with Gphoto2 and my Raspi

I'm going to try Chdkdptp right now... but off course if "some configuration is required" it could become a nightmare for a dummy mac user as I am...

I'll tell you how it goes

If you want to use the GUI, you will also need the  chdkptp-raspbian-libs-20130826.zip file from https://www.assembla.com/spaces/chdkptp/documents/cdeZq8dTGr44klacwqEsg8/download/cdeZq8dTGr44klacwqEsg8

For configuration, you will want a shell script that sets the LUA_PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH before running chdkptp. An example is included as chdkptp-sample.sh

README-RASPI.TXT has a more specific example for using the GUI on raspi.

You may also run into issues where connecting to the camera fails if you are not root. There's some information in http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=6231.msg89252#msg89252

Running chdkptp as root is also an option, but that will probably make it difficult to use the gui.
Don't forget what the H stands for.
