Thanks a lot srsa_4s!

I don't have the code with me so maybe my question is irrelevant, but does it matter at which line I add the code?

Sorry if my question doesn't make sense, but I'd like to try your proposal tonight and want to make sure I can start when arriving at home.

Thanks again for your efforts!

Just insert it anywhere in that file - you'll see other similiar entries for other addresses.

Until now could not redo the error, but I recognized something that might be important? After having undone the commenting out and adding the line to the named file the camera won't connect to USB at startup. After having started the cam I have to unplug from USB, then plug back and afterwards the camera is found.

I'll run a script that will reboot the camera now until an error occurs...

EDIT: Well, can't do that of course via script, since the camera is also disconnected after warm reboot by post_levent_to_ui(4458). That was not the case before NHSTUB(Fopen_Fut, 0xFF8564D8). Maybe that really nails something?  :)

I don't have any problems with the USB connection using the changed Fopen_Fut address.
Can you check one camera manually (not over USB)? If the CHDK startup logo is on the card, does it show up after you switch the cam on (it's opened using fopen() )? Is ptp file transfer working?

Hmmm. Sorry, don't know what that was. After having restarted my computer everything works as expected. That was a false positive, sorry.

So okay then, I'll start a testing with a 1 to 1000 loop which will warm reboot the camera.

Sorry for the failure!

Stopped the script after about 250 successful reboots with one camera. The card was completely loaded with images.

Hope you found a solution, although don't understand what you did. However I'll keep this modified version and will try tomorrow or saturday with 10 cams.

Thanks again! I appreciate your help very much!

Sounds good so far.

By using the new function instead of Fopen_Fut, several checks are avoided which can cause trouble. I have since found the name of this function, it's called "Fopen_FileStream" in the ixus30 firmware.

Takes a little longer here to test with more cameras. I would be very happy if the fault was gone with your solution, it was sometimes really annoying.

So again thank you very much!

The only place I can see in the code that uses fopen() at startup, is the CHDK splash screen logo.

Do you disable the CHDK startup splash screen (CHDK Settings --> Show Splash screen on load)?

If you don't normally disable the splash screen, could you please retest the original build on a few cameras with the splash screen turned off.

Phil.

Hello Phil. Yes, splash screen has always been turned on. Never had the idea that this might be the reason.

I will reset the files to everything as is was before and then repeat the tests. But that will be on Tuesday next week.

Thanks also to you for your thoughts here.
