Right. Well, that's a very clever (and cheap?) method of widening the exposure range. I wonder what the difference is between images taken with two cameras with the same exposure range, one with iris only, and one with iris plus ND filter?

AFAIK, the only place a Canon P&S camera uses the ND filter when it also has iris control is in "Fireworks" scene modes.
