HowTo? S110 and long exposures?

Pre-newbie with CHDK. I've used MagicLantern on my Canon DSLR for a year or so.

I've gotten CHDK 103a build 3376 installed on my S110, and it mostly seems to be working fine. Thanks!

I'm unclear how to get Long Exposures to work past the default of 15 seconds.

I've enabled Tv over-ride, and specified a maximum of 4 minutes: 00:04:00. However, in Tv and Manual, the long exposure limit of 15 seconds hasn't changed.

Things like the Intervalometer script work, so I think the installation is ok. My main interest in CHDK is the intervalometer, including star trails.

Operator error? Is there some other setting I'm unaware of? Should I be using a different build? Have others been able to get the S110 to do long exposures?

CHDK does not change the range available in the canon interface. You set the exposure you want in the overrides and shoot.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Thanks. Works fine. I was able to take a 60 second exposure in a darkened room. I suppose this camera will go over 64 seconds.

I'm gradually starting to sync up with how CHDK works. Very impressed.

Thanks for your patient assistance to this newbie. I'll give that script a try.

I am able to have exposures over 60 seconds, such as 30, seconds, 90 seconds, 2 minutes, and 5 minutes.
However, the display is somewhat confusing / misleading.

In the upper left corner, there are small red numbers indicating hh:mm:ss, and are consistent with what was entered in the over-ride.
Oddly, in the lower left corner, the value 60" appears in rather large numbers: For example, 2 minutes, 30 seconds:

Code: [Select]
**************************************************
*    00:02:30                                    *
*                                                 *
*                                                 *
*                                                 *
*                                                 *
*     60"                                        *
**************************************************
Also, the EXIF in the .cr2  is ok for 30 seconds to 60 seconds, but remains at 60 seconds for exposures over 60 seconds. Should I change to the camera making a .dng, or would that not made a difference?

While CHDK overrides are very useful and allow you to do things the Canon firmware will not allow, they have the limitation that the Canon firmware does not know they are active.  So the Canon firmware will continue to process things to the best of its ability - including limiting its OSD values to the valid range it can handle.  Just something you have to live with when using CHDK.

It won't make any difference - see my comment above.

Ok. Thanks for the prompt reply. I am Very Appreciative of the time and effort that goes into developing and maintaining CHDK.
