Lots of feature additions in CHDK, but two I consider really useful are the Zebra to avoid highlight burn/ blue fringing, and Grid because I shoot to protect my 16X9 crops for flat panel TV. I created a Grid file from text lines, but even after disabling Grid, the white line is still there.

When I power on to the OSD there is a bright white line running from bottom left to about half way across the screen display. It may be a default option in CHDK which I haven't found yet, but I don't want to clutter the display with things I don't need.

Can somebody enlighten me, tell me what the white line is is and if it can be removed?

Struggling with antispam capture! Even with Hi-res lcd cannot make out the images!

CHDK Settings --> OSD Settings --> Filespace --> Show Space Bar

Thanks, sorry for the stupid question. So it is the remaining space left on the card!

Maybe just me, but I wonder if it should have been enabled by default in the release packages or perhaps it could have had a text label attached to give it some meaning.

Again, thanks for putting me out of my misery!

The logic behind the choice of OSD icons enabled by default has always escaped me.  I suspect it goes back to when the first icons were added - those are the ones currently enabled by default.  Subsequent additions were added but not enabled for "backwards compatibility" reasons and to not clutter up the display.

The choice of the SD card space bar graph is particularly unfortunate.  For a newbie, it's hard to understand what it is  and there is actually a text and/or colored icon version that does a much nicer job of showing remaining space.

Not a big problem - you can of course customize to your liking.  I use a special script that recognizes each of my camera models and adjusts the defaults to my liking : http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=10126

Thanks, I need to look at the backup scripts because during my first Newbie experience I found it too easy to mistakenly set options in the screens as I scrolled through at the different levels, then get in a mess and need to go backwards - which I did with 'set to default'. But you have to re input your custom settings.

At this point (and I'm not a programer!) I'm thinking how useful it would be to export the configuration file into defined cells in an Excel spreadsheet which has helpful labels explaining the cell data switches, allow the sheet to be edited outside the camera, then export to creat the configuration file to load back on the card.

This would create a more user friendly GUI based on an Excel sheet. I use this kind of thing already for sending AT command strings to a telephone modem.

From the Newbie point of view, they don't need to search the Wiki on each CHDK function and working on a PC screen to complile the config file is a lot easier and less error prone than doing it in the camera.

For my first posts to the Forum, perhaps this is a bit off the wall.

Ah, CFG Edit not working for me.

Works o.k on the first CFG file, presumably created at first time install of CHDK (CCHDK3.CFG).

But now I've modified the CHDK options I have TWO updated files: CCHDK4.CFG and OSD_4.CFG. They both produce a script error 'Unknown entry at offset 4 id=1000' ?
