Preventing re-evaluating on each photo to increase photo rate

I've been using chdk for a few years and I love it. I mostly use it for the intervalometer scripts to take pictures from my drone. I use a Canon Powershot S100.

I've preset aperture size, iso, focal length and shutter speed. Yet, before every photo, it appears the camera is re-evaluating the scene before the shutter.

I was hoping it would be possible to skip this step, increasing the number of photos per minute.

Is it possible to turn of the camera's evaluation before every take?

Many thanks

From your description,  it sounds like it might be trying to focus before each shot?   You can use set_aflock() to prevent that  (or manually enable AFL or MF mode from the Canon menus/keyboard).

This might be of interest as well : http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Fast_Shooter_Intervalometer

You might want to add a set_aelock() function call too.   If you are presetting exposure parameters with the CHDK override menu,  the camera will still attempt to set exposure before CHDK overrides it.  If you have set your camera into M mode and are doing it that way, ignore this advice.

I am using the camera in M mode, but it still seems to focus and adjust before every shot. I'll try the fast intervelometer and the aelock. Thanks again.

If you are in M mode the aelock() won't make any difference.  From what you say,  set_aflock() will.

I disabled the preview (faceslap) and now she's flying at a photo every second!
