Cameras able to use CHDK High speed burst mode?

Cameras able to use CHDK High speed burst mode?

Was reading the CHDK 1.2 man and noticed "For newer cameras you can use also the high-speed burst mode"  http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_1.2.0_User_Manual

Did not find a list of cameras that can do this so searched the forum using keywords "high-speed burst mode" and only found post started by barberofcivil  "High speed burst mode" 05 / December / 2007.

Googled and found review for Canon PowerShot SX40 HS that that mentioned High-Speed Burst HQ as 8 shots @ 10.0 fps.

Hope there is a list or mention of what digic processors etc are needed.

CHDK ports are made by different people, and sometimes made by people who don't even have the camera. There is no one who knows exactly which features work across all >100 cameras. There is no list.

If you are asking which cameras support high speed burst in the canon firmware, you can look at the Canon specs. However, they may have similarly named features that don't all work the same way.

The high speed burst mode usually comes together with the CMOS model.

where the jpeg image is captured at around 10 fps with reduced resolution.

certainly it will be a welcomed if we can save RAW image at this high speed burst mode, however, I doubt if we have that large buffer to support more than a few frames in a burst.

I am forcing superfine jpeg and CHDK auto ISO in the high speed burst mode, so I got better image quality (though not RAW) and better exposure control.

the CMOS in Ixus/Powershot could be very powerful (which I believe is from Sony), that it allows 4K output from sensor, but other hardware limitation could be stopping any further thing to be done even with CHDK.

There have been several conversations spread over several threads here in the forum about high speed burst mode.  Not all cameras have this mode and AFAIK it means different things on different cameras.  Not all "high-speed burst modes" are the same.

Unfortunately,  this means that for the really fast burst modes ( SX40, SX50) CHDK shooting override features (like bracketing) are largely ignored.  This is probably due to the burst mode not using the parts of the code where CHDK hooks in its overrides.

Checked the CHDK Wiki benchmark results for various SD card brands http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Benchmarks  While there is a significant speed difference between Digic II & III does not seem it is a significant difference from Digic III to V?

Any comments concerning this?

You can sort of get a list of which cameras have "high speed burst" by checking which ones have it in their modelist. (grep for MODE_SCN_HIGHSPEED_BURST)

A comment from conf.c says "SX40HS corrupts JPEG images if RAW enabled in this mode"

This could mean that the raw buffer is never accessible at all, or that it is in a different location than normal.
