Hello everyone,

firstly thanks again to the forum, especially waterwings for your advise.  I have another question.
Would there be a simple way of using a single CA-1 swith to trigger two camera.  I am trying to make a simple book scanner and so far doing the left pages and right pages is fine, however i would be interested if its possible to use a two camera setup and a single ca-1 switch,  i could ofcourse get two ca-1's and do left and right one at a time.  Again thanks for your kind consideration.

Short answer : yes.

Longer answer :  you need to connect the CA-1 to both cameras via some sort of Y cable.  The CA-1 sends pulses to both cameras that way in parallel (note that nothing comes back to the CA-1 from the cameras - it's a one way communication whether you use one camera or two).

But you could just use a simple switch and battery wired to both cameras - there is really nothing special about the CA-1 for your application other than the fact that you don't have to wire it up yourself.

First of all, you can modify a single switch to connect to two cameras :-

If you are not able to do that, this supplier may be able to make a Y-adapter for you :-

Otherwise, the small switches he supplies are very neat and convenient.

[I have been provided with free samples].

Many SDM users and owners of Daniel Reetz book scanner http://www.diybookscanner.org/ use similar switches.

With the Ricoh you could detect half-press and trigger the left camera and full press to trigger the right camera.
