SX160IS: How to install CHDK to 8GB card

I use CHDK for 4 years. I installed CHDK to 4-5 cameras: A530, A630, A720IS.

On A630 and A720IS I use 8GB card, where I installed CHDK according to the instruction on http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Using_SDMinste_to_Create_Dual_Partition_SD_cards (earlier according to the http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/canon-corner/292626-using-chdk-8-gb-sd-card.html)

Today I bought SX160IS and I installed CHDK to 4GB with no problem. But when I installed it to the 8GB card, CHDK doesn't work.

Is it problem with me, or with SX160IS?

Your camera does not need two partitions.
Use the application from the blue rectangle at the top of this page or read the entire page.

The SX160 is released after 2010. That means a partitioning is not necessary.

Thanks a lot for your answers. I discovered program STICK earlier (using google) but it already didn't help me.

But "Method 2 - Using CHDK itself to make the SD card bootable" works well. Now I have chdk on 8GB card on my new camera. Thanks a lot again!

STICK works well for most people.  As a service to others,  can you tell us why STICK did not help you?  The more detailed your description, the better.

Thanks.

I don't know why STICK didn't help me, maybe because I already had card divided to 2 partitions (it wrote: "Card does not need partitioning" - I understood that Stick doesn't make 2 partitions because I already did it). Now I experimented with low formatted 4GB card - Stick works! Only drag and drop doesn't work. So I tried to repeat all with low formatted 8GB card... now it works!

If I remember well, I had these problems:
1) I could not drag and drop a photo. I had to use "browse..." button.
2) Stick identified my camera from the picture correctly, but it wrote it can't download proper file - I found some "test100a.zip" file. So I renamed file "sx160*.zip" to "test100a.zip".
3) After "install chdk" button it wrote that something was wrong (I don't remember what was wrong) and I can read it in log (I don't remember, what was in log).

Maybe problem was with Comodo firewall that still warned me that this program is unknown and it wants to connect Internet, run to some programs, write to some directories... I allowed all but probably there was too short time limit.

Caused by this ?  :-

"If you see this message, or are running a 64-bit Windows system, terminate STICK and double-click the STICKX.CMD file. This will display a dialog allowing you to temporarily 'elevate' yourself to Admin level by selecting a user account with these privileges. STICK will then run properly.

Unfortunately this temporary elevation breaks drag-and-drop (it's a known Windows problem) so you will have to use the Browse button to locate a photo. "

D&D also does not work with some (all?) Linux window managers.  The Browse button is the only option but it works well.

I have admin rights and I have 32-bit Windows XP. I didn't run STICKX.CMD file.

Unfortunately STICK (and other Java programs of mine) does have problems sometimes with drag-and-drop on WIndows machines. I apologise - I'd fix it if I could!
