I also note that the only black pic I've had occurred when T=0 so I have now added a check to set it to 1 if that happens again. Maybe a fluke, but maybe a bug in set_tv96_direct?

Unless this has been fixed, it indeed is a (known) bug:

Hi, I've got a problem with this script. Generally its good and i've made some videos with it

widok z okna
2-6
KDSH 5 rano - 6 rano

but on every video there was a problem, overexposed photos, usually about 50, i don't know why thats happen, i even tried making one not-through window, and i had same effect so i had to delete some frames, but this one got really f.. up...

bad

PS. my cam is a720is

Deeppy, do you have the PR_SCREEN.TXT file generated by the program? if you pinpoint the faulty shots there, we could debug the script better. I suspect the set_tv_direct96 has some bugs... I haven't been able to pinpoint it, but this problem sporadically happens.

Also, have you tried with different SD cards? I know this should be completely unrelated, but I suspect some cards do it more than others. Also, can you try formatting the cad with the camera?

Have you tried changing the "Delay after host" parameter of CHDK?

I have noticed one thing, when street laterns were turned on, they started to "grow in power", you know what i mean, light bulbs were warming up, and they were giving more and more light, at one point, camera started taking black photos.

I haven't tried any diffrent sd card, but why do you think that it could matter ? Write speed of card ?

I dont really know what's Delay after host, could you tell me ?

I have uploaded ALL the photos from the movie on my rapidshare account, in traffic share mode
(no waiting) and the .TXT file you needed. I have sent links to them in a personal message to you. Photos are packed in a 35mb rar file. To find the line just take number of the photo for example 34 and multiply it by 4. 34*4= line 136. I have opened the txt file in deamwaver, each line has its number there. hope i helped and hope you understand my english. Anyway, are you Italian ?  :D

PS. Tell me if you get the message, because i dont know if PM is working correctly.

sorry, typo!

I meant "Delay after shot"..

And actually, the menu item is "Script shoot delay". It's in the "Script" menu. you can set a small delay in scripts after a shot is taken.

Yes. I know it should be unrelated, but on my A570 i kept getting frames with bad exposure (even with a normal intervalometer script) and at the end I solved it with a new good fast card. Then, I re-formatted the slow card in the camera and the problem disappeared. Anyway, nobody believes me so maybe I am just a visionary :-)

Yes!

No!

can you please re-send it?

Ok, the private message thing doesn't work so i put links here, please don't download them people because you will take my trafficshare transfer without any reason, they are only for fbonomi.

photos : http://rapidshare.com/files/131733350/photos.rar

TXT file : http://rapidshare.com/files/131733605/PR_SCREEN.TXT

Tell me when you download them so i can put trafficshare off.

When it goes about speed of the card it is possible, i used 10 second delay and my card is pretty fast but i'll try formatting it.

Script shoot delay  (.1s)         [     0]

Delay (sec)                           [   10]

Italy is a beatuiful country :D

I have made another movie with same effect, but its better visible on it.
I have formatted the card before, this time i have set:

Script shoot delay  (.1s)         [     5]

Delay (sec)                           [     5]

Again you can see the reflexes on the window, i didn't though that they will be visible, next vid i'll make sure that there is no light inside, and i'll clean the window perfectly before starting.

Heres the vid : http://blip.tv/file/1107598

Images with log i will send you in pm.

Hi all,

Here is another timelapse I've made yesterday, you can see the clouds, boats sailing, people going down the beach, high tide and low tide, and the sunset.

Deeppy, the problem in you movies is caused by the bug I was speaking about: sometimes you issue the commands to set exposure time and it just does not have effect, and the images are shot with the default settings (the one you had the camera set to).

looking at your images:

IMG_9264
Log: SHOOT  821 -228 656
-228 is 5.29"
656 is ISO556
So, the script wanted to shoot as 5.29", ISO556
Actual shot is 4.97"  ISO640
Ok, with usual approximations

IMG_9265
Log: SHOOT  822 -228 661
-228 is 5.29"
661 is ISO576
So, the script wanted to shoot as 5.29", ISO576
Actual shot is 1/80", ISO100
(failed setting exposure and ISO)

IMG_9266
Log: SHOOT  823 -228 666
-228 is 5.29"
661 is ISO576
So, the script wanted to shoot as 5.29", ISO 597
Actual shot is 1/80", ISO100
(again failed setting exposure and ISO)

IMG_9267
Log: SHOOT  824 -228 671
-228 is 5.29"
661 is ISO619
So, the script wanted to shoot as 5.29", ISO619
Actual shot is 5", ISO640
succeeded

In othe cases only one of the operation fails:
IMG_9293
Log: SHOOT  850 -228 767
-228 is 5.29"
767 is ISO1239
So, the script wanted to shoot as 5.29", ISO1239
Actual shot is 5", ISO100
(succeeded is setting exposure, failed setting ISO)

This said, how do we solve the problem???
I don't know exactly, but tweaking the delays solved the problem in my case.

If you see, also fpfalangie had the same problem:
Timelapse with variable shutter speed
My suggestion was:
Timelapse with variable shutter speed
and it seems to have solved.

fpfalangie, did it work? (btw, thanks for posting links to your movies, it's nice to see the script at work :-)

Deeppy, in your case, I would suggest lengthening even more everything:
try changing these lines

Code: [Select]
rem we can now shoot
sleep 100
set_sv96 Y
set_tv96_direct X
sleep 100
shoot
sleep 100
print "SHOOT ",p,X,Y

to something like:
Code: [Select]
rem we can now shoot
sleep 300
set_sv96 Y
sleep 300
set_tv96_direct X
sleep 300
shoot
sleep 300
print "SHOOT ",p,X,Y
(all delays longer, one new delay after set_tv96_direct)

Also, try changing:
Script shoot delay  (.1s)         [     5]
to
Script shoot delay  (.1s)         [    10]

I am sorry I can't be more exact, but it was by tweaking that I solved the problem in my case...
