Turning Flash off disables saving RAW files

I just realized that the problem doesn't have to do with manually turning off the flash.

Even if the flash is set to auto, but the picture doesn't need the flash, then it will take the picture, but it won't write a RAW file.

In case there's a setting that I'm missing, I've attached the settings as a text file.

I believe I figured out the problem.
I have to half-press the shutter first, and then full-press to take the picture.
Apparently this doesn't need to be done if the flash is going to fire automatically, but is required in bright light or daylight.

That's usually an indication of a problem in the override code for image capture (capt_seq.c).

Fixing it usually requires a lot of trial and error, testing various versions of the placement of the override hooks.

Try this version - I've added a fix that has worked for other cameras with a similar problem.

Yahoo answers is not a great place for technical advice on CHDK.

There is even an "expert" there using the nickname fhotoace who has been warning people for years that CHDK overwrites the Canon firmware and that you have to pay Canon to reinstall their original firmware :

Has this fix now been included in all versions as I still seem to be getting the same problem with the 1.02a version. Would it be possible to have a version  that solves the problem with this as well?
