Hi, I have SX270 102c
trying to install this CHDK on 32GB SD card with STICK under WIndows 7 64bit
having error:

Preparing Drive G: 32GB - please wait ...
Copying DISKBOOT.BIN from C:\Users\***\Desktop\stick\TEST\ to G:\
Command 'copy *.* G:\' issued
   return code was 0
Output: 'test102c.7z
        1 file(s) copied.'
Copying files from C:\Users\***\Desktop\stick\TEST\ to G:\
Command 'xcopy CHDK G:\CHDK /e /i /y' issued
   return code was 4
Output: '0 File(s) copied'
Installation failed - see log for details

HOW can I install this CHDK? I really want the RAW on this camera   :'(
I suppose it's because STICK doesn't support 7zip compressed archives. Fortunately, it's time for a new prealpha (in .zip archives this time).

Prealpha 7

Changes since prealpha6:
- pixel drawing routine is now a tiny bit "faster"
- trying to address the rare "camera locks up at start with black screen" issue (in case the cam still locks up, the green LED on the back will remain lit)

thank you!

it's working now, and I'm now shooting RAW  :)
I have troubles with the colors in RAW, when I move the white balance slider, some pixelisation appear, and blocks, bricks... also when converting to B/W and playing with the sliders.

the only problem I have so far is that the camera gives me "Change battery"and shuts down, while CHDK is telling me that the battery is 47%, and the battery indicator of the camera UI is full 3/3.

That sounds like you're having problems with your RAW processing software (btw, you should use the DNG format in the camera, not RAW). If you have questions about that, post somewhere here: RAW Shooting and Processing.

You may want to change the CHDK battery indicator to display voltage, not percent: CHDK Settings -> OSD Settings -> Battery -> Show Battery Voltage.
You're probably experiencing an often reported issue with these models (SX280/270). If you avoid using movie modes, do not zoom in movie modes, you may still be able to use that battery for taking stills.

Camera crashes when you set a script's parameter to -10000 by selecting the 5th digit and pressing left. I don't know if anyone would use a number over -10000  ;) but it's a crash.

Looks like sports mode and RAW don't work well together too.

That's a CHDK bug. philmoz has fixed it in the official source. I will probably include the fix in the next prealpha, please avoid triggering it until then :)

Thanks for this one too. Very interesting. The effect on JPEGs seems very much like the mysterious corruption observed on the sx170. Saving RAW as RAW (not DNG) seems not to affect JPEGs, saving RAW as DNG triggers the corruption*.

I have no idea how to fix this at the moment.

*edit:
Raw data is damaged in all cases. The probable cause is that the firmware initiates JPEG compression parallel to the CHDK RAW/DNG saving process. So, this might not be the sx170-type corruption, it's more like what happens in AUTO mode(s)...

Any info about zebra mode? Is it imposible at the moment, or it needs time to work for it?

The current CHDK code that draws/processes framebuffer data is not suitable for use on DIGIC 6. Those routines would need to be rewritten completely. I haven't done much of this kind of programming, so this isn't going to happen soon...

Yes, Interesting... Here's what happens with Auto+Sports mode.

Hello,

Is the source code for the prealphas available? I need to shoot aerial RAW with precise GPS timestamp (well, to the extent possible).

Currently I use S100, but SX280 should work better in low-light fast-motion situations (I hope).

Also, ideally I'd like to be able to control camera and get photos back via USB w/o writing to the SD card (it will be buffered by the on-board computer and lazily written to its flash)

May I join the porting effort?

Thank you,
Roman
