Hey,

ty for your fast reply.

CHDK is now running on my sx280hs. I just tried it once again and now it works.

Of course i am willing to improve chdk for the camera! Should i report bugs in this forum?

The CHDK build system is only compatible with GNU make. AFAIK there is no version 5 of GNU make yet, so you probably have some other make on your path. I'd suggest using the build enviroment supplied with CHDK shell. You don't have to use CHDK shell itself, just launch a shell from it or put the toolchains on your path.

For digic 6 cams, you need to to use the EABI compiler, form the gcc464-493 directory if you are using chdkshell tools.

I've installed CHDK shell 3.44 but there isn't gcc464-493 folder, only gcc451. I have errors if I use this gcc451.

You need to use an arm-none-eabi toolchain.
Get the latest CHDK shell update (3.46) from here: http://forum.chdk-treff.de/download_dev.php
You can also find an appropriate toolchain there, in a separate download.

Hi I've been using CHDK on my A590, G9 and SX230 but can't get it to load on my SX280. I determined what version (102c) using STICK. I am using  "sx280hs-102c_102d-1.4.0-4229-full.zip (689.29 kB - downloaded 199 times.)" and EOS card to make the SD card bootable. Using method 3 I loaded the unzipped files; CHDK, changelog, DISKBOOT, versreq and read me, ran EOSCard and locked the SD card before inserting it into my camera. There is no CHDK screen and the green display light flashes 3 times. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I think it's trying to tell you that you have the wrong version of CHDK for the actual firmware in your camera.

However, rather than using EOSCard (which can be tricky to get right),  I'd recommend using these instructions for how to use STICK : 
STICKX

EDIT : you might also want to low level format your SD card if you have used it to run CHDK on your older cameras.

@ waterwingz Thanks for your reply. I have followed the STICK instructions strictly 3 times. It sets up the SD card but the camera does not load CHDK. I have used the version as determined by STICK. I tried to check if the version is right using ver.req and vers.req without any luck. Any suggestions?

I prepared it in accordance with the STICK wiki using renamed "test102c" (retitled sx280hs-102c_102d-1.4.0-4229-full). It prepares the card and I eject it. I've checked and the files are on the card. I lock it and put it in the camera and start by pushing the play button. I've also reformatted and prepared etc and tried by pushing the power button. Either way the camera just starts as normal with no sign of CHDK.
