I've put 5 LED flashes when booting start & then 3 quick LED flashes after the boot sequence finishes in boot.c. It seems like the camera makes it all the way through - I see the LED blinking 8 times, but nothing appears on the screen and it just seems to be powered off like normal.

Hmmm ..  earlier you said :

Ok, I managed to get some tasks running and some leds blinking after calls to spytask and taskcreatePhySw,

but if I now understand you,  what you meant is that you got past the start for  spy task and keyboard task in boot.c but you have never actually seen the camera stay running long enough for them to do anything  ( i.e. you are not cleanly making it out of boot.c ?)

Yes, that sounds about right.

Here is the Romlog that I get

What happens if you modify boot.c so that it mimics a normal camera startup ( i.e. you use the exact code from the firmware) and does not hijack any tasks or create any new ones?   If everything is correct,  it should just start the camera normally (maybe flashing some LED's so you know it's actually there).

Once you get to that step,  start switching over to the CHDK hijacks one by one to narrow down the problem?

sub_FF02BC5C_my is cut short in boot.c, the last instruction of the original function is @ 0xff02bccc. Also, startupchecks is in sub_FF06E0EC. Please modify code_gen.txt and re-generate boot.c . (Did not look further, there may be other issues.)

I managed to get camera to boot normally using just the code copied from firmware without any changes. I could take photos, etc. After this I tried putting back spytask - this caused the camera to start up and then fail on an exception after a few seconds. I'll attach the Romlog.

I also tried putting back the CreateTask patch, but this caused camera to hang when loading CHDK. What is the CreateTask patch supposed to do?

Thanks

Do you have the file "main.bin.dump" for the build that crashed right before you retrieved the romlog? You can find it in the platform/(camera)/sub/(fw)/ directory after build.
If not (and you changed the source since then), please make another build, copy main.bin.dump to a safe place, crash the cam with the new build and get a new romlog. Then, upload both files.

Note that I don't know what you changed since the last published source. Did you fix sub_FF02BC5C_my?

The CreateTask patch makes it possible to replace certain firmware tasks with our slightly modified versions. If the latest source is valid, the only replaced task is the InitFileModules task.

IXUS 265 Porting Attempt UpDate

Attached is a work-in progress for the IXUS 265-100a and IXUS 265-100c source code.
I do have several IXUS 265-100a cameras and will continue with this porting attempt

Thank You for working on this port :) I love this little camera but wow it would be amazing with CHDK  8)
I only have 1 ELPH 340 currently, which I rely on, but if I can be of assistance for non-dangerous bug testing (or any bug testing if I get a second one) I'd be happy to help, altho I'm not a coder.
Cheers :)

There have been some minor updates and fixes for the Ixus 265-100a HS and Ixus 265-100c HS cameras  porting attempt.
But as far as I can recall there is still more work to be done on these cameras.

( My Laptop only has versions back to 10-04-2016 which was then at trunk-4585, so will have to look in my archives.)
