Turn screen off using when interval.bas script

Camera: Canon A590 IS.

I enabled the interval.bas script (that comes preloaded with the build) to take pictures at 5 second intervals. Works fine.
However to save the battery I would like the following:
1. turn off the screen when the interval.bas is running
2. stop camera from auto-focusing before every picture

Is this possible?

Thanks,
Tom

The intervalometer script included with CHDK is very simplistic.  It was included more as an aid to people learning to program than as a complete application.

Almost all of the other various intervalometer scripts out there will do what you ask and a lot more.

Here are some links : Intervalometers

You might want to look at Drivelapse , AccurateIntervalometer or Ultimate_Intervalometer for some ideas.

Thanks, I will try the AccurateIntervalometer.
I took a further look at that one - it's old and has some camera specific dependencies.

Try the attached script instead ?  Does exactly what you want with options for when the display turns off and how the focus is set.  Pressing any key aborts the script.

Note : requires CHDK 1.3.0  ( the "unstable" or "Develoment" version)
