CHDK v1.3 running on a Canon G9 Bug

Hi

Sorry the buglist link on the download page does not work.  I have 2 issues with CHDK on a Canon G9.  I am currently running build g9-100g-1.3.0-3449-full.

The first issue I have is that DNG image files created by CHDK cannot be displayed properly with Darktable (also DigiKam, Lightzone, Shotwell) although RawStudio seems to work on them from the get go. If I change the input color profile setting from "DNG embedded matrix" to "standard color matrix" in DarkTable the image is displayed ok.  I haven't tried playing with any settings in the other editors to see if the the images will display properly.  All of them display with a heavy magenta cast.

The second issue was when shooting with shutter times greater than 15 secs and ISOs outside the normal range of the camera are not saved in the CR2 files.   I don't know if CHDK ever touches these files in camera or is even capable of doing that.

You might wonder why I am saving DNG when I have the CR2 capability with the G9.  I thought it would be handy to shoot in all camera modes with lowest resolution jpegs and the CRW/DNG files with the understanding that the CRW/DNG files would have the correct exposure info in them.

Great job the way.  Can't wait to get an eye-fi card for my camera and give that a spin!

Regards ... Denis

If you can upload a sample DNG file somewhere that might be helpful.

CHDK doesn't directly control the metadata in Canon files, although in some cases they are recorded correctly. Note that on most cameras the ISO overrides don't actually work outside the factory range, so you probably aren't losing much there. It's possible there is another propcase we could set to get the shutter override set correctly.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Thanks for the quick response.

Here are links to some test photos in my dropbox account.  Hopefully you will be able to access them.  I have never tested sharing with dropbox so I don't know if sharing is configured properly.

Thanks. I suspect the color matrix and/or illuminant may be wrong.

Can you upload a native .CR2 file from the camera and I will see if I can extract better values for our DNG files.

Phil.

Attached is a new version with the DNG color matrices and illuminant values from your CR2 file.

If this works better, I'll check the changes into SVN.

Perfect. The DNG Image looks great in DarkTable.  Also works in Darkroom, Digikam, Lightzone, RawStudio, RawTherapee and Shotwell.

Thanks for your help.  I will be giving CHDK a workout this weekend.
