The existing code is a workaround for the problem on other cameras (a1400, ixus132, ixus140, ixus255 and sx510).
The code needs to be modified to take out the 'fix' and then retested.

Just for the record, A1400, IXUS140 ans SX510 were fixed.  Changeset 3500 - 3504
