Bug? A570/ CHDK 1.3 (r. 3487): CHDK-Display disappears after shooting a picture.

On my A570 IS CHDK 1.2 runs nicely.

But when I use CHDK version 1.3 (rev. 3487) and take a picture, afterwards there is nothing anymore to see from CHDK: No OSD, no menu, ...

But it seems to continue to run in the background: When I press the button for <ALT>-mode, the canon-functions do not react anymore -- everything as if CHDK is running but not displaying anything.

Furthermore, I have the script [http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Manual_Exposure_Control_for_Video_Recording]) loaded; when I am in the suspected <ALT>-mode and press the shutter button, the script displays itself and works and takes pictures and I can also quit it -- but this does not make CHDK to re-appear on the screen.

Only way to get it back is to switch of the camera and on again.

By the way, in the video mode there is not the problem. (But switching to video mode and taking a video after taking a picture does not bring CHDK back.)

I mention that I have version 1.3 installed on a 32 MB (yes, megabyte)-SD-card, but that should not be the problem -- there is still plenty of space compared to the size of CHDK, and space for ca. 10 seconds of video or some pictures. (I cannot test with another card since I don't have one free and don't want the hazzle of swapping the CHDK-installations.)
My cameras:
* Canon PowerShot:
  - G7X Mark II (Firmware 1.10b)
* Other manufacturers:
  - Pentax K10D (Firmware 1.31)

Same with 1-GB-SD-card. So it is not due to the small card.

On my A2000 IS version 1.3 runs nicely.

I have reproduced this on some of my cameras (a470, a460, sx100).
On my A570 IS CHDK 1.2 runs nicely.

Thanks for the report!

More on the issue here.

@oid_maps

Once revision 3492 becomes available, can you run the script you find here on your a570 and a720 and note what it displays?

Was having the same problem with my A560 on v3491.  Couldn't even run the proptest.lua script.  Propset 2 vxwork camera.

The 3492 version fixes that.

Proptest.lua reports 115 and 206 in the regular shoot test and only 115 in the aelock shoot test.

A570 IS (Firmware 1.00E):
Code: [Select]
Started
1) regular shoot test
 matches :  115 206
2) aelock shoot test
 matches :  115
Done

A720 IS (Firmware 1.00C):
Code: [Select]
Started
1) regular shoot test
 matches :  115 206
2) aelock shoot test
 matches :
Done

Rev. 3492 fixes the original bug, CHDK is visible even after taking a picture, thanks.

Thanks, that's kind of bad news. Propcase 115 failed the aelock test on the a720, so it's probably not suitable replacement for PROPCASE_SHOOTING...

FWIW,  I believe I saw that result once too while testing the A560.   Might be a "hole" in the test code as it went away when I reran the test.

Maybe old_maps would be kind enough to run the test a couple of times on the A720 ?

I'll look at the code  >:(

second run (M-mode):

third run (M-mode)
Code: [Select]

fourth run (M-mode):

.. OK, but now I finally put away and pack my A720 for selling, after testing with the A570 and A2000 I find both other cameras better (both in picture quality, and A2000 in the using-feeling-part of "look&feel")
