could someone help me make sense of all this? which settings are best for my camera (SX160is)? what difference do they make?
i have been using the RAW settings as just kind of, whatever works, but the RAW files often are no better, and sometimes actually slightly worse quality, than the JPG. i am using Lightroom, so it's not the problem the other dude had, with how he was viewing the pictures. if RAW is supposed to be what the lens actually sees, then why is it so grainy when i zoom in? anyone have any thoughts/help?
what does all this (below) mean?

RAW file prefix [SND, IMG, CRW]
RAW file extension [CRW, CR2, THM, WAV, JPG]
RAW operations prefix [SND, IMG, CRW]
RAW operations extension [CRW, CR2, THM, WAV, JPG]
RAW develop

Manual bad pixel remov [Averag, RAWconv, off]

DNG format
'DNG' file extension
DNG version [1.1, 1.3]
DNG

That is normally. In most of the scenes the jpeg engine works pretty well. There are not a best setting for RAW. The CHDK RAW is the image of the sensor - not more. YOU must develop the image.

The CHDK manual should help: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_1.2.0_User_Manual#RAW_.28digital_negative.29
