After figuring out that these Play / Shoot hard switch cameras need to be set to play to connect to a PC I tested CHDKPTP sucessfully.
I shot both JPEG and DNg and opened them fine.

Shooting DNG with 5 full shutter presses in a row worked fine, too.

The ETR 00:01:31 worked part of the way after full shutter press.
It exposed the 91 seconds. It went into the post processing stage and seemed to complete it. Then the camera crashed. ROMLOG is attached. I found the three ETR DNGs on the SD card but no JPEGS.

Shooting DNG without ETR froze the camera. I had to take the battery out as the camera hung and I found no DNGs on the card.

I then turned RAW off. Shooting JPEG alone freezes the cam.

ROMLOG.LOG (3.15 kB - downloaded 14 times.)

I had a thought on the G7 but to no avail. I shot a JPEG without CHDK so that the folder would be created and the counter would be actuated. Then I tried shooting one with CHDK but same problem as before.

This replicates the current G7 problem. The camera hangs on shooting a JPEG with CHDK.
Only battery out fixes that.
