Ixus izoom with modified USB_MASK.
Well, as soon as I put the cam into the docking bowl (even when the bowl is connected to no cables) I get to play mode and stay there. Using CHDKPTP I switched Rec mode on nonetheless. I then enabled remoting and tried with the USB cable on the bowl but it didn't work to take a photo this way.

EDIT 06 July 2015: Whatever I did back then, re-testing this with CHDK 1.4 trunk 4164 it works. I think maybe I forgot to disconnect from CHDKPTP in the earlier test before setting up the remote settings. So, they do work once one has the camera in Rec mode in the bowl (cradle).

Koshy had a little ELPH which wasn't white as snow but everywhere that Koshy went the ELPH was sure to go. (actually an SD, but that detail ruins the rhyme...)

Makes one wonder what the 4 is - I didn't find it. There are 14 settings on the menu.
Is STITCH_MODE available? Did you test Video mode?

It is possible to use chdkptp to try to discover if 4 is a valid mode.
Connect to camera using chdkptp, and type:
> rec                     -> Go to REC mode
> =set_prop(0,4)   -> Set property 0 = 4

If there is not any obvious change in LCD icon which helps to discover the mode. Then take a photo (shoot or remoteshoot) and check EXIF info to see the "shooting mode" used.

A new version with modified modemap table.

I didn't realize video mode belonged in the list. It is number 16. I also didn't know about stitch assist which is accessed from the menu instead of the funct list. It turned out to be the missing 4.

Thank you for the chdkptp explaination. It was not in vain I tried that first. I found the:

  | | | 5)  CanonImageType = ST*:Stitch assist mode

on the exif data and then figured out where it is on the camera...

I assume you'll update the modemap table again?
Then what to test on the new version?

On ixus izoom, Is 0 a valid mode?
I'm asking because in stubs_entry.S:
Code: [Select]
// Firmware modemap table found @ff95e37c -> ff95e37c
// Mode 0 in firmware but not in current modemap
// Strange mode 0x00010010 in firmware, found in modemap as 16 (MODE_VIDEO_STD)
// Strange mode 0x00010011 in firmware but not in current modemap
// Strange mode 0x00010012 in firmware but not in current modemap
I don't know how to map thouse "strange modes"

EDIT: Modemap table updated. chdkptp GUI should control capture modes without error.
Please test if USB remote shoot works.

I could not find further modes on the camera itself.

I used chdkptp to execute these:

=set_prop(0,0)
=set_prop(0,17)
=set_prop(0,18)

I took a photo manually each time.
Attached is the exif dump from the camera JPEGs. Does that tell you something I didn't see?

Remote shooting using the user buttons in chdkptp still doesn't work. JPEG still reports "ERROR: unsupported format". DNGs can be shot and get transferred but are broken and can't be opened.

A difference in EXIF data.
Code: [Select]
Mode 0: EasyMode = 1
Mode 17 and 18: EasyMode = -1
Is there MODE_EASY in ixusizom? or maybe EASY=AUTO... well, don't worry about that :)

Please, test remote capture (DNG and JPEG).

Remote shooting of JPEG and DNG files works now.

After shooting DNG remotely I got the "DNG disabled" situation again I had reported in the otehr thread. After some fiddling with battery out and recording a video and play mode it was gone again.

DNG files generally can't be opened. All dng_validate says on it is: *** Error: Invalid DefaultCropSize ***
This is true both when shot to card and when shot remotely. I'm not sure if I opened the DNGs when I succeeded to shoot some before. I might not have.

I forgot to include crop numbers, please test this new version. It uses crop numbers copied from ixus wireless.

I'm sure you did not open DNG, DNG was not supported by ixus izoom.  :D

I managed to shoot 1 DNG and it could be opened. Before and directly after it the DNG Disabled error from my other thread struck. So that's still there. I booted in movie mode, shot a movie, shot a DNG, second DNG failed.

Latest version fails with chdkptp: ERROR: Operation Not Supported (on connect that is)

I restored the version before it and it worked again, something changed.
