It's no secret that CHDK ports for new Canon Powershot cameras usually lag the release of those cameras by months or even years.   This often makes it difficult to purchase a new supported camera in stores or online.

This can be a problem if you do not want to buy a used camera via eBay.

One option to consider is an official Canon refurbished model.  These usually come with a warantee and (in my experience) will be indistinguishable from a brand new model.

Currently great prices on the A800 and A1300 - both supported by CHDK.

In the UK there's a Canon Refurbished Shop  on Ebay which I've used many times.

Highly recommended.

I was in my local department store yesterday.  Their camera section is now gone.  Two years ago there was 12 feet of shelf space and probably 25 P&S cameras on display.  Now nothing.   All part of the rise of the mobile phone camera I guess.

The SX50 is available refurb'd today from the Canon store for $149  (with free shipping too).

Nice prices - as always.   

The G1X is a great bargain and well worth the price.

But the ELPH115, SX50hs, SX510 are all "out of stock" and so not available, and the SX520 and S120 will not run CHDK.

Still, I guess one out of six is not bad for such a great deal.

And the Powershot N at $89 is a great deal!   I'll confess to being a bit biased as I did the CHDK port.  But I'm thinking it might be worth the price to get a black one to replace my white model.
