WASP won't run??-->Fixed (needed java 64 not java 32)

I've successfully switched back and forth on my 16 gb card using WASP previously but all of a sudden, it won't run now.

Using the "wasp64x", it opens a command window but a split second later (faster than I can take a screenie) that same window closes without the actual program starting up.

Running Win 7 64bit. JAVA installed. CHDK on powershot S5 IS runs flawlessly.

I've done nothing to the system between it working and now not working.  I've downloaded wasp.zip twice with no joy.  Ideas?

===
Additional data:

I got a screenie of sorts: it reads while trying to execute the wasp64x command : 'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file and immediately shuts the window.

The wasp64x command line in the wasp.zip download that I'm (trying to) execute reads:

elevate cmd /c "cd /d %CD%&&java -d64 -jar wasp.jar 1"

I've even tried executing it as admin but it still won't run. I've gone so far as a computer re-boot (that often fixes a multitude of ills) without success.

As far as wasplog.txt, the only one that is present is from June 2014 (not today when I tried to run the program) and then that's in the deleted wastebin$ which isn't the log I'm looking for.  When the program fails to run, no log is created.

You could open a command window, navigate to the folder containing wasp.jar and try executing the command:
   java -jar wasp.jar
That should launch WASP (though it won't have permission to do the job).

If it does, try
  elevate cmd /c "java -d64 -jar wasp.jar 1"
which should run wasp in an elevated way.

If it doesn't then the error message should help determine what's going wrong. When you run java in a command window you do get to see error messages that just go into the ether when you run it by double-clicking a jar, bat or cmd file.

Same message as I wrote in first post. Screen attached. WASP still won't open.

That seems to mean that java is not properly installed - if the exe is present on your system, then the path that Windows uses to find programs doesn't include that directory.

I guess the most likely explanation is that something has screwed up the path environment variable. What does
   set path
reveal when issued in a cmd window?

This really means nothing to me.  Hopefully it means something to you.

edit--re-installing java. will then try wasp again.

Reinstalled java. Cold boot. Still won't run wasp.

Strange.  I found your old site  :D and discovered Stereo Data Maker !!

http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/sdm/download.htm

and downloaded "commonfiles.zip".

I got the sdminste exe file out of the zip package.  It runs the same as (I suspect newer version of) WASP.  I was able to access the 2nd partition on my card (as I was previously able to but not now) with SDMINSTE.  Still can't get WASP to run though.

Ideas?

Looking at my Windows 7, I see that the path does not include java even though typing java on the command line works. Which means that I don't understand how Windows 7 finds programs!

But on my Win7 64-bit system, there's a java directory in the Program Files directory. And when I click on Programs in the Control Panel, I see Java there as a separate entry (along with "Programs and Features", "Default Programs" and "Desktop Gadgets". What does yours show - somehow java is not installed properly?

I'll have to check later (on cell now) BUT why does  SDMINSTE run but wasp won't if, as you think,  java is installed incorrectly?

That's because SDMINSTE is a native win32 program, in other words: it does not need the java runtime.
