Extended Video Script for ELPH 100 HS

Hi everyone

I've been trying to get an extended video script working on an elph100hs without any luck. The script loads and runs, but does not stop and restart video. I have tried the 1b and 3 scripts. Any expertise in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Script #3 appears to be working for me (tried in P mode), 1b is not suitable for this camera (reason: movie_status).
Note that you should not attempt to leave ALT mode while movie recording is in progress. If you do, the cam will lock up (when using current CHDK 1.3 releases).

Maybe I am using it incorrectly. What settings should I use? Do you start filming and then go into alt mode? Thanks.

No. You load the script, adjust the 2 script parameters (at the bottom of the script menu) if you need to, exit ALT mode. Enter shooting mode (if you haven't already), enter ALT mode and press the shutter. This will start the script, the script then will start recording. You can stop recording with the MENU button.
And, again, do not mess with any CHDK menu while recording is in progress.

OK, now I think I understand it better, but when I run the script I get:

*** STARTED ***
:1: unexpected symbol near '{'
*** TERMINATED ***

It seems to be a c/p error. There is no '{' in line 1 of the script. Make sure your script file is a plain text file with .lua extension.

Likely cause is using something like wordpad that saves as RTF.

You guys both nailed it. It was formatted as RTF. I fixed it and now I have an awesome pocket sized video camera that I can use to record guitar lessons when I go to Spain to study. Awesome script, msl! I love that I can turn the display off. I already made a recording 1 1/2 hours long! You really knocked it out of the park. Great troubleshooting, reyalp! This forum is so awesome. Also got to give a shout out srsa_4c for showing me how to use it. You all ROCK!!!
