inPhoto ID PS vs. CHDK

There was a small discussion in the SX170 porting thread: http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=11164.msg116775#msg116775

Uses inPhoto parts of CHDK? Is there a violation of GPL rules?

Attached is the package with the files of the SX150 for the sd card. One file was stolen from CHDK: icon_10.rbf.

Koshy had a little ELPH which wasn't white as snow but everywhere that Koshy went the ELPH was sure to go. (actually an SD, but that detail ruins the rhyme...)

The diskboot.bin file is only 46K. And a big part of that appears not to be used.

If it's based on CHDK,  it is a very stripped down version.

I selected a random cam. If you want another let me know.
Thx. Nafraf already sent me the files for his a810. I have unscrambled the diskboot file using the appropriate camera routine (easier than trying to work out how to "undance" based on the dancingbits CHDK tool). There are not a lot of strings inside, the interesting ones are:
InitCHDKPTP
SpyTask

Also, since .rbf is not a widely known font format, they are likely using those routines too. The CHDK PTP support exists since end of 2010. So, they took a relatively early CHDK tree, kept what they needed and added their stuff. CHDK or source is not mentioned on their site, so IMHO they are violating the license. I already mentioned that their PC software likely uses libgphoto code.

edit:
I can't find "rbf" in the binary, the file might be a leftover from an early build.

Sorry for any inconvenience and misunderstanding. This software called "PS module" and it was always available under GPL by request. Sorry - for now I understand, that it was not properly formatted as GPL software. It was based on earlier version of CHDK (trunk958), but it was cropped a lot as we only need remote control features to switch support for our software from deprecated PsRec-SDK and CD-SDK from Canon. We will fix license information and update products. PS module source code: http://psm.k247.net/psm_source.zip

As for libgphoto - it was used only for research and prototyping in earlier stages. Now all code is managed c# code and we do not use libgphoto for it's development. "CHDK" strings remains only in some constants and will be fixed also. You can check source code files in attached archive with "chdk" strings to be sure that libgphoto wasn't used.

Sorry once more. We do not have in mind any GPL/LGPL license violation and will fix any problems with it.

Thank you very much.

The loader and platform code will help us support some cameras that don't yet have CHDK support.
