8G micro SD on Canon 160SX

I need to install CHDK on an 8G micro SD card in a carrier. I have installed CHDK on a 4G non-micro card with no problem and on a 1G micro SD. But when I put the micro card in the camera, I get "Memory Card Locked." If I unlock the card, it works fine, but no CHDK.
I have prepared the card using STICK.
Is there an inherent problem in micro SD cards in a carrier?

I've used micro SD cards with carriers for years on several cameras with CHDK.

Good point - although we didn't exactly find out the root cause or solution there.  Beyond blaming it on "timing" that is.
