Outline mode doesn't crash my A530, but I'm not entirely sure if it works properly. I tried it twice: I first took a photo of my keyboard and I saw yellow/orange dots at bright spots.
Then I took a photo of my window and almost the entire screen became yellow/orange, not just bright spots or anything.

Attached are 2 photos, one of them looks like it could be normal, the other one looks completely f**ked up.. Hope this helps :)

That is OK.
The first image has lots of fine detail so you do not get strong outlines.
The second image is junk left after taking the second photo of a stereo pair.
Half-press the shutter for about one second or switch to playback and back again to clear.
