My question is, can anyone tell me if CHDK is in development for the 265 and if so any release date?
or should I just go buy the 255 so I can use it right away?

"...The method I used, is a improved version, but based on the old Ixus 240-100c porting method..."
Also I suggest, that before making making a final decision, that you download the cameras user
manual and canons camera specification brochures from canons web site.
This will give you a better comparison than just using Google to "Ixus 255 vs Ixus 265".
For example, if in the future, you need to be able to use a phone or tablet and use the Wi-Fi,
or Android NFC and then use Canons Camera-Window Software for (Wi-Fi) "Live View"
and (Wi-Fi) "Remote Shooting".
The Ixus 265 or Sx 600 (Digic 4+ series) may then be better choices.
Also see Canons list of Wi-Fi "Supported" and Wi-Fi "Compatible" camera models.

Camera-Window, a new version released on September 15, 2014, for Android is here:-

Note that the Android NFC "Hack" !dea could be used on any CHDK port that supports
the standard CHDK USB Remote feature. NO External Batteries are required.
