There is no way to adjust the zoom speed using any of the built-in CHDK options.

However, it should be possible to write a short script that monitors the zoom level position and makes small changes in zoom position when the level is pressed.  The size & rate of the small changes could be set by the user via a script parameter. It could even be adjustable using the camera "arrow" buttons.   All a question of how much work someone wants to put into writing the script.

script is

@title Set Zoom Speed
@param a Speed
@default a 30
rem speed can be from 10% to 100% of max zoom speed
if a<10 then let a=10
set_zoom_speed a
end

can i use that script in my canon sx50hs ?

Thanks for reply.

The script looks good but unfortunately the set_zoom_speed function only works for a small number of older Canon P&S cameras.   You can try testing the SX50 but I do not expect that is will work.

What you need to do is adjust the zoom by calling the get_zoom function,  adding an offset to the result, and then passing that value to the set_zoom  function.   Use the is_pressed "zoom_in" and is_pressed "zoom_out" functions to check the position of the zoom level and continuously adjust the zoom as stated when they are active.

I already tested with that script.
Can't control zoom speed. ( nothing change )
Zoom speed is Normal  ( Very Fast Zoom in Zoom out     not ok for video.

I want to shoot video with that camera.
Zoom speed is very fast for ( Zoom in ) sometime a little shake screen because of very fast zoom speed.

I am very like to shoot with 50X zoom .

Can you write script for me to shoot video with very slow speed zoom in/out  ?

Thanks in advance.

Which is exactly what I tried to tell you.

See how the attached works for you.  Requires a fairly recent version of CHDK 1.3.0.   Crashes my S100 - apparently it does not like zooming under script control.  Works on my A1200 and although the zooming is slow it's not very smooth.

Edit 1 : works on my SX50hs.
Edit 2 : script updated to v1.1 to provide even smaller zoom steps.

I already download slowzoom.lua & tested with 100b 1.3 & 100c 1.3

nothing change.

I changed zoom step to 1 & zoom step delay to 1000 above
not difference too.

Do i need to enable lua native call ?
that can be damage my camera ?

I open  slowzoom.lua use notepad.
I can't see clear.

Which software do i need to edit slowzoom.lua ?

Thanks for help & teach me.

Impossible.  Did you actually load and run the script?  ( i.e. select the script from the CHDK Script menu and then press the shutter button fully while in <ALT> mode )  The zoom speed will only run slower while the script is running.

Good!

It's not exactly what I think you wanted - the zoom now moves in slow steps rather than slow and smoothly.  But that's about as good as it's going to get unless someone does a huge project looking at dissassembly and experimenting to figure out how to slow the zoom motor speed.
