I just noticed that my SX30is won't auto shutdown when CHDK is active. Is this normal? I can't see any mention in the User Guide. Can auto shutdown be reinstated?

Thanks, but that only switches the LCD off. The camera still stays powered-up. I would like it to retract the lens and power down as Canon intended, to save battery life.

Sorry - it powered down two minutes after the LCD switched off.

Thanks.
