Setting mode (manual, automatic, video etc.) through CHDK ?

Would it be possible to set the current camera mode via CHDK, or can it only be done though the wheel on top of the camera?
I'm thinking of a KAP script that takes both pictures and video without the need to land the kite and change the mode by twisting the mode wheel.

it is possible. but only on the 570 and 720 so far. See CHDK Control of the Mode Dial for A570IS
Actually a KAP guy was one of the forces behind that development. sooner or later development will resume, but please refrain from bumping the thread ;)

Sorry for posting here then :( , I couldn't come up with the word "dial" in my searches (not that easy to know the proper name for that wheel when you're not a native speaker) I will read the linked thread carefully and look forward to when this feature is available for more cameras. Thanks for the link :)
