Camera's LCD goes blank when connected to PC via USB. Could CHDK prevent this?

My Canon's LCD display always goes black when I connect it to my PC. Maybe I'm missing something, but I've looked over all of CHDK functions to see if it could prevent this from happening. I would like to be able to take shots while it's connected to my system via USB.

I have a Canon SX230 HS, firmware GM1.01E.

That's pretty much normal for all my cameras.

This is the Canon firmware response to certain PTP commands that are typically sent by your OS when you connect the camera.

CHDK doesn't have an option to prevent this. Instead, you need to prevent the normal OS software from talking to the camera. On Windows, installing the libusb inf driver (required to use the CHDK PTP extension) does this as a side effect. On Linux, some udev voodoo may be required.
