Ixus300 / SD4000 - Still BETA, can I still find and download CHDK 1.1?

I was pleased to see the new 1.3 and have downloaded it for my cameras and look forward to trying it.

Ixus300 / SD4000 has always been marked BETA in past versions but is not marked BETA for 1.3 - that is a mistake, since nothing in the new version fixes earlier problems.  The main issues for me are that a) Zebra does not work in any version, b) Histogram only works in CHDK 1.1.

So my main question, can I still download CHDK 1.1 from somewhere since I routinely use Zebra mode and that is the only version that has ever supported it on this camera?

Perhaps developers will correct the download list and possibly advise me where to get CHDK 1.1.  Thanks

There are preserved copies of 1.1.0 here : https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B08pqRtyrObjdVlCeS0wN0tWR2M&tid=0B08pqRtyrObjTy11Y003Sk1lYTQ#list

FWIW, some of the issues with the IXUS300 / SD400 are documented here :  http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=7516.0

Thanks, a big help.  You'll see I was involved in that earlier discussion.  A volunteer who didn't own the camera kindly tried to work on version 1.2 code that was then in Beta, and we had some testing exchanges, but it was too awkward and he gave up.

FWIW, the alpha/beta designation is pretty arbitrary and inconsistent. New ports typically get marked alpha or beta for a while, but there is no particular standard. If no one complains about a port, we assume it's OK and remove the label.

At least some of the problems with the port should be fixable if you are willing to test.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Hi, Thanks.  I was back and forth over a week with a guy who is a competent coder, which I'm not.  The problem seems to be the unusual wide LCD screen and icon configuration.  On  CHDK 1.1 I noticed the Zebra, Grid Patterns, and ND filter didn't work.  CHDK 1.2 fixed the ND filter but lost the Histogram, which is why I want to revert to 1.1.

So, on current versions of CHDK a camera that defaults to f/2.0 and easily blows out whites doesn't support either Zebra or the live Histogram.  To me it's unfinished.  It's a rare camera (though a goodie) and I don't expect further work on it - even so when I go to the Ixus300 page on the Wiki it clearly says it's Beta.  I can see the difference between being "unfinished" and being "beta" which suggests somebody is still working on it.

I've set the status for the IXUS300 back to BETA, although having looked at the source code I'm tempted to set it to ALPHA.

If zebra is not working then, even though a histogram might be displayed, it will be incorrect - both functions look at the same viewport data.

As reyalp said, we can try fixing the issues if you are prepared to test new builds.

The support for widescreen cameras is pretty good now; but the IXUS300 was not ported with any of the required code implemented.

Attached is a version that uses the logic from the IXUS310 for the viewport.
If you are able to test this, then it will also help to post screen shots / photos of the various things that don't work (note the edge overlay may be a better way to see if the viewport code is correct than using the zebra).

Phil.

In case PROPCASE_ASPECT_RATIO is not working on this camera, perhaps the code or comment in the ixus110 lib.c can help.

I have to respectfully decline - I went through over a week of back and forth running the various test scripts with the helpful guy who tried hard and gave up a couple of years ago.  It was frustrating for me, too.  Somebody has to get the camera in hand to work on it, and I don't seriously expect that at present.

I will try your IXUS310 based attachment and get back in a day or two.  Screen shots may be a problem because in the current CHDK the Zebra error displays as constant flashing back and forth between useless screens, and the Histogram flashes back and forth between an accurate and a nonsense display inside its box.

I do appreciate the effort.

While I'm sure the "helpful guy" had good intentions, you have attracted the attention of the core CHDK development team.  It does not get any better than that.  Go for it.

I'd be pleased to help out for all the joy I've gotten from CHDK, and am a reasonably capable end user, but I draw a blank at code.  I was able to run those test scripts and I sent the "helpful guy" some videos of the flashing screen behavior.  I promise to install Philmoz remix and get back soon.
