chdk and video out on SD780

I installed CHDK on an SD780 to prevent the camera from sleeping while using the video out cable in an FPV system.  After installing CHDK the camera no longer sleeps, but the video output doesn't work.

Prior to installing CHDK the LCD screen would turn off and send video when the composite cable was attached.  Now with CHDK when the cable is attached the LCD screen remains on and no video is output via composite cable.

I've checked the manual and settings but haven't found a solution.  Any ideas?

Thanks,
Paul

CHDK does not intentionally affect the video out behavior, so this is likely a bug.

Which canon firmware version is your SD780?

Are you using the standard cable? I assume the composite out on this camera uses the Canon adapter cable that plugs into the USB port. If you've made a custom splitter to do USB remote or PTP control at the same time, that could also be an issue though it shouldn't depend on CHDK being present.

edit:
I see some iffy code in kbd.c for this port, so if you post your firmware version I can provide  test build.

I'm using the standard cable that originally came with the SD780.

Firmware is GM1.00C

Thanks for the fast response.

Here's a test build. If it fixes the problem, please check that regular keyboard input still works too, both in the canon UI and navigating the CHDK menus etc.

reyalp,

Looks like that did the trick.  When cable is attached the screen goes dark and video is output via cable.

Menus seem work fine.

Thanks!!!

Thanks for reporting and testing. This will be fixed in the stable and branches from build 3972 and later.

ziccardi's problem was using the Canon video out cable, not PTP, so it's not the same problem. In any case, A2300 does not have the same bug that SD780 had.
